1980 Honda CBX 1000 six cylinder

Original owner and 7,911 actual miles. Bought new at Long Beach Honda in 1983.

The owner is very attached to it but realizes that he is just not riding it anymore.

This is the rare 6 cylinder. These are getting harder to find.

This is one of the more rare units that was manufactured in Japan and not in Ohio.

I have been running my motorcycle service and sales business here full time since 1982. From 1976 to 1981 I had worked at Oasis Honda here in Rancho Mirage where I used to take these out of the box new and put put them together.  As a teenager  these were exciting and  are still the talk of the town if you are one of the very few fortunate enough to own one.

Watch the video, see the many pictures and discover more about us.

At a cost of over $5000.00 we revived it from years of indoor storage and did the following:

Replaced the fuel tank with a "new old stock" tank.

Rebuilt the 6 carburetors using all new genuine Honda parts including the 6 new float needles and all rubber gaskets.

We used the 6 bank Digi Sync / digital meter for carburetor adjustment.

This bike runs like new!

We also replaced the battery, changed the oil with full synthetic, flushed and bleed the brakes and replaced the air filter.

Unfortunately the tachometer is bad as the needle tip came off.

A tachometer might be available on e-bay.

The original exhaust would be considered perfect except for the right side under the buddy peg where the chrome has some peeling due to a battery acid spill long ago.

Please look at the many close up pictures and you will sell where there are some other minor cosmetic issues.

The new tank looks  almost perfect but if you get down low and look in the right light you might see a slight scuff in the clear as pointed out in one of the pictures.

As a new tank there is no rust inside or out and it has not been relined.

This tank was not cheap!

It is missing the gas cap latch/cover which might be available on e-bay.

Other than the tachometer everything works like new including all the lights, signals, indicators

and horn.

The seat material is all original and in amazing nice and soft condition still.

The plastic side cover on the right was replaced because it was lost in storage.

Its CBX sticker is missing.

There are no leaks of any kind.

The forks tubes are not pitted.

The tires do not show any dry cracking and the tread looks great.

Please look at all the pictures, watch the video and then come take a closer look.

This bike is ready to ride anywhere now!

You could fly in to the Palm Springs Airport and ride it home cross country.

There are plenty of specialty motorcycle shippers available on the internet as well.

Crating is not required.

Please feel confident before you make the commitment to buy.

I have sold thousands of motorcycles from this same location since 1976.

TITLE AND REGISTRATION:

The registration is on planned non op with the DMV so no registration penalties.

We have the clear title, shown in the last picture. I am licensed and bonded with the California DMV. If you are in California then I will also collect the tax of 7.75% plus a documentation processing charge of $85.00. Plus the registration transfer fee of $15.00.

My buyers (you) never pay DMV registration penalties.

I will give you a temporary registration permit on the spot and your new registration will come to you in the mail.

If you are outside of California and you ship by common carrier then you will pay only the purchase price and I will hand you or mail you the title. I must have a copy of the shipping contract from the driver when picked up or a bill of lading.

Without proof of shipment via common carrier I would still need to collect the 7.75% sales tax

Shipping:

If you are less than 150 miles away then I can offer delivery for a fee on a case by case basis if paid in advance.

My customers have used many different competitively priced door to door shipping services. No crating ever needed.

A simple Google search for "motorcycle shipping" will bring up lots of options. Depending on the size and distance an average size street bike might cost anywhere from $450.00

to $650.00. Please make your own arrangements and then give your company my phone number and address. Sam's Cycle Service Inc. 34-044 Bob Hope Dr. Rancho Mirage Ca. 92270 Phone 760-343-3131.

I am here to assist. If you are out of state then please let your shipper know that we will need a Bill Of Lading when picked up.

Financing and payment:

We prefer that you come test ride before leaving a deposit but if you feel confident enough then you can leave a 10% deposit via credit card to hold your bike for up to 10 days.

Once paid in full you can leave it here fully insured for up to 30 days at no cost. This will give you plenty of time to arrange shipping or pick up.

We do not accept credit card payment for the balance as the fees are too high.

You can do a bank wire transfer; cash in person or even a check. The check must take its 10 full days to clear my account before you take delivery.
